Winnipeg Project

Project-Echo has set in motion
the "Winnipeg Project"
to fight poverty and aid disadvantaged
children in Namibia, Africa.

Northern Namibia is a region that has been devastated by decades of conflict and mired in poverty. Today, this region is one of the worst affected areas of the HIV/AIDS pandemic which is sweeping across southern Africa, leaving thousands of children orphaned and vulnerable in its wake. Although this is the most populated region of Namibia, it has the fewest social services and the highest levels of poverty.

Through the SOS Children's Villages Canada, our aim is to sponsor a home that will house up to 10 orphaned and abandoned children, providing them with all the commodities necessary to a healthy life and optimistic future.

The cost to build a home which will supply food, education, medical care, recreation and an SOS Mother is $25,000/year for 3 years.

Interspersed between courses of the incredible meal, guests were entertained by Comedian Dan Verville and Magician Darcy Oake, both young Winnipeggers who gave their time to the Winnipeg Project.

To close out the night, director Thomas Hall spoke of the future for Project Echo and the need for continued support. The $25,000 commitment to the children in Namibia is a baseline of support and we are aiming to surpass this number. Please consider making a donation to the Winnipeg Project and keep listening for the next fundraising event.

Project Echo is reaching out to all Winnipeggers to join us in our quest to build a home and give hope to those less fortunate.

The Winnipeg Project Gala Dinner held on October 24th at Bailey’s Restaurant was a huge success. A small group of 90 people were lucky enough to get tickets to an event that easily could have been 250 people.

The energy in the room was incredible and people were inspired by the project. One of the Echo directors, Joel Marcoux, passionately emceed the evening and introduced the host Obby Khan.

Obby’s message was one of hope, he spoke of his personal connection to his foster child, Sujod Arar, and of his hope for an entire village sponsored by CFL teams.
